Iran has a long history full of rich and authentic cultural and artistic diversity. A significant majority of Iran’s population includes the Azerbaijani Turks who have very bright folkloric rituals. Ritual dance of the nations related to the culture and civilization of their people originates in their history and has been developed over centuries and is now an integral part of the nation’s life and existence. Thus it accompanies the beauty, joy and sorrow, and traditions of the peoples of the nation. Azerbaijan is renowned for having such a great and rich tradition and art-sport in the world. Azerbaijani folkloric dance is formed in accordance and harmonic with Azerbaijan’s traditional music and has been able to maintain its credibility and character as a fine art in the world throughout a long time ago until today.

Aylan Dance Group is pioneer in the ritual and folkloric Azerbaijani dance in Iran. It has started its activities since 2007 in Tehran, with efforts to demonstrate and promote this traditional and ritual sport-art. The group is directed by Tohid Hajibabaei, active in two age categories of children and adult, has had numerous performances in several national and international formal organizations and festivals. “Tovlama”, “Aradan”, “Atishma”, “Azda”, “Shaylan”, “Aylanish”, “Kocheri”, “Qaytaghi”, “Shenlik”, “Qars”, “Chobani” and “Besh dash” dances are the main and unique choreographies of Tohid Hajibabaei.

Tohid Hajibabaei Biography:

Tohid Hajibabaei (born 1988 in Tabriz) is the founder and leader of the Aylan Azerbaijani Folklore Dance Ensemble.

He started the art – sport of Azerbaijani dance as a child and was trained by dance teachers in Tabriz, Tehran, Baku, as well as folk dance instructors in Russia and Italy. Master Hajibabaei founded the Aylan Dance Ensemble in 2007 and has directed, performed in and led the Aylan Group in various domestic and foreign dance, music and ritual scenes and festivals and won various awards and titles in Russia, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Austria, Georgia and Spain. Also, Aylan Group led by Tohid Hajibabaei has been chosen as the selected group in three consecutive periods of Tehran International Folklore Festival in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Among the distinguished choreographies of Master Hajibabaei, the compositions of Aradan, Beshdash, Azda, Baylan, Atishma, Tovlama, Shaylan, Kocheri, Shenlik, Aylanish and Qars can be mentioned.

Tohid Hajibabaei holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology and is graduated in master’s degree in engineering from the University of Tehran.
